Free Throw Championship

Knights of Columbus Free Throw ChampionshipThe Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district, regional and state  levels of competition. International champions are announced by the K of C international headquarters based on scores from the state level competitions.  Competition at the local level, usually takes place in January of each year.  Your local Knights council at St. Vincent de Paul plans to have a local tournament for boys and girls, ages 9 through 14.  We will be making more detailed announcements about the venue and dates soon.

Winners of our local event will move on to compete in the district level championships.  As long as you’re winning, you will advance to regional, and state competitions.  In fact, winners of state competitions typically participate in an international competition.  A list of the 2021-2022 international winners of the Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Championship can be seen by clicking here

Since 1972, councils have sponsored the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship for boys and girls from the ages of 9 to 14 to provide an athletic outlet and encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition. Kids compete within their own gender and age and progress from local level to district, regional and state/province competitions. This program is a great way to introduce the Order to your community and recruit faithful family men of service.  To learn more about what this great tournament has meant to others and the values they obtained through participating in the event, watch the two short videos below.  The first video reveals what the tournament meant to Major League Baseball star pitcher, Craig Stammen, while the second video gives you more of a sense what the tournament is like,
