Knights Friday Mass

Knights of Columbus RosaryEvery Friday morning members of the St. Vincent de Paul Knights of Columbus Council No. 10390 meet for mass at 6:45 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel at St. Vincent’s.  After the mass is over Brother Knights present for the mass pray one decade of the rosary.  This is but one of the ways we Knights demonstrate our faith in God and our Holy Mother.

Faith is one of the four cornerstones of what the Knights of Columbus stands for and lives daily.  The other three are Family, Community and Life, as in “protection of life” (i.e., Pro-Life activities).

One important goal of the Knights of Columbus is to strengthen our men and families in faith.  When we entered the Order, we were constantly reminded to form ourselves in the Catholic faith.  This formation goes beyond mere facts or religious practice to an authentic connection with a loving God and his son Jesus Christ.  The Supreme Knights of Columbus offers programs in this category that are designed to draw us closer to God and the Church in a tangible and meaningful way.  These programs arm us for the spiritual battle that our men and families face daily.

Some of the programs we refer to are:

  • RSVP – Refund Support Vocation Program – Our Supreme Knights of Columbus will provide our local Council $100 for every $500 given to a seminarian we sponsor.
  • Into the Breach – This program deepens men’s spirituality and formation to combat the crisis of religious faith in our world.
  • Pilgrim Icon Program – This program is designed to unite our community in a special act of prayer and devotion to the saints by hosting a pilgrim icon.
  • Rosary Program – Build faithful families and communities by praying the rosary.  This program encourages councils to promote devotion to the rosary in our families and parishes by scheduling regular rosary prayer services on any day of the week, at any time of the year.  We have chosen the Friday morning mass as our time to attend mass together and say a portion of the rosary, but Brother Knights are welcomed to stay longer and say the entire rosary if the time does not interfere with their need to arrive at work on time.
  • Spiritual Reflection – Create annual opportunities for prayer and reflection as a fraternity.
